1: Mollys Bar – Killaloe
This bar is located on the Ballina side of the bridge in Killaloe. There is live music every weekend, lovely food, and roof top smoking area, outdoor seating next to the river and a nightclub. This bar has everything and is always buzzing.
2: An Caislean Bar – Portumna
Famous for its live music, this bar is located on Portumna’s main street and is lively spot at the weekends. The people are so friendly that you’ll always find a good conversation and plenty of craic. Live music most nights of the week and an outdoor sheltered smoking area.
3: Lukers Pub – Shannonbridge
A tale of two bars – the first is the classic Irish modern bar overlooking the river, great pints of stout, a bring your own sessiun policy, pool, darts and wonderful company. The second is behind the secret door, a brilliantly preserved 17th bar built for the British soldiers defending Britain from the threat of Napoleon. John the owner even provides a tour to all visitors looking to step back in time for a creamy pint.
4: Killeens Bar – Shannonbridge
This bar is on the main street in Shannonbridge and is one of the most famous through out the region. It has been featured on many travel shows including ‘Three men on a boat’ and is well worth visiting if only for one. There is live music and a great atmosphere every weekend. When entering you may feel that your walking into a folk museum such is the decoration. So brace yourself and enjoy the surroundings.
5: McEntyres Pub – Shannon Harbour
Slightly of the beat and track but a real find when you arrive. The bar in always buzzing at the weekend with music and fun. It is the only bar in town and has great reputation. It claims to serve the best pint of Guinness on the entire river and there is only one way to find out, sample it yourself.
6: Egans Bar: – Ballinasloe
Just a the bottom of the main street opposite Salmons department store. The is a great sports bar, which comes to life at the weekends. Good smoking area and even hosts bbq’s when the weather permits. A good time is easy to come by here and the locals are really friendly.
7: Coffey’s Pub – Le Carrow
This is a real local Irish pub, located next to the Marina in Le Carrow. Live music every weekend with trad sessions that you wont forget quickly. A lovely local spot with a great atmosphere.
8: Clarkes Bar – Lanesbrough
Now this pub is known far and wide and has music almost every night during the summer months with top local performers playing regularly. There is always a great atmosphere and a buzz about the place, there are pool tables, a fine smoking area and plenty of space. The staff are really friendly too.
9: The Silver Eel – Grange Lough
All seasoned boating people know about this little hide out. The pub is located in Grange Lough which is a good 2 hours cruising from the nearest town. It is a wonderful place and everybody is given a warm welcome when they arrive. There is a pool table, darts, a lovely restaurant and a relaxing smoking area. The place is surrounded by fantastic scenery and is truly beautiful. There is live music every weekend and a visit is recommended.
10: The Widows Bar – Belturbet
Located on the main street in Beltubet this is a lively bar with plenty of charm. There is music at the weekends with local trad sessions as well as something for everybody.
