The River Shannon upstream from Lanesborough holds very good stocks of Pike. The famous Lanesbrough warm water stretch is a very popular location and further upstream contains mildly grown inlets along with vast wide stretches which run for miles. Some hot beds include where the Feorish and Camlin rivers enter the river Shannon downstream from Tarmonbarry. The best location however is on the stretch where the Shannon opens into Lough Forbes.
